From the By-Laws of the Company, Article IV, Section II, Sub-Section (C)(8):
EMS Lieutenant - shall assist the EMS Captain in the performance of the duties of the office.

It is the responsibility of the EMS Lieutenant to see that these duties are fulfilled throughout the year.

The ambulance shall:

• be prepared to respond at all times;
• have all equipment clean, neat, and stored in its proper place;
• be checked after each call to ensure that the vehicle is ready for the next call; and
• be kept clean inside and outside.

In addition, you shall:

• Assist your Captain in training all Members in the operation and general knowledge of the truck, and to ensure that you are prepared to assume the Captain's position, in the event of the Captain's absence;
• Keep your truck bay clean, including the glass overhead doors;
• Immediately report to any Chief officer on any equipment that is missing or damaged; and
• Immediately report to any Chief officer on any mechanical problem.

If the EMS Lieutenant experiences resistance or other difficulty in obtaining the cooperation and/or support of any Member, it is to be reported to a chief immediately.

Failure to fulfill these duties may result in the removal of the EMS Lieutenant from the position, at the discretion of the Fire Chief.
